Project Description
Squire’s Castle
Guarding the serene forests of the North Chagrin Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks is Squire’s Castle. Utilizing locally-quarried Euclid bluestone, the castle was built in the late 1890’s by Standard Oil co-founder Feargus B. Squire. After a little over a century, the castle was beginning to show it’s age and was in need of repair. Mid-State Restoration worked to replace deteriorated mortar and to relay weakened portions of the castle, and at the conclusion, the entire exterior façade was gently cleaned to restore the 120-year-old appearance of the structure.
